"Strengthening Legislation"


Info: Under the leadership of the the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department (BHEUU, JPM), this FG put strong focus on sector on areas requiring mprovement to guide the Government in implementing legal and institutional reforms aimed at upholding the rule of law to improve public service delivery which regular legal improvements.


Initiatives:
1. Comprehensive legislative reforms for transparency and accountability
Key legal reforms are underway, including the drafting of the Freedom of Information
(FOI) Bill, Political Donation Bill, and Ombudsman Bill, as well as amendments to the
Whistleblower Protection Act.
2. Strengthening judicial transparency and efficiency through digitalisation
efforts are being made to modernise the judicial system through the expansion of eCourt systems to enhance accessibility, reduce case delays, and improve overall
efficiency. These include the publication of regular statistical updates on e-Court to
increase transparency in court performance, as well as the development of a one-stop
platform for reporting court case resolutions involving public officials.
3. Monitoring Legal Reform Reporting Progress
The Government actively engages with the World Justice Project (WJP) an
international civil society organization on international assessments that measure the
rule of law and legal integrity. In parallel, continuous reporting on legislative reform
progress through a national report is conducted to communicate Malaysia’s ongoing
efforts in strengthening legal.
